Interdisciplinary symposium: Finding humanity
in advanced dementia

Discovering ways to honor the dignity of individuals coping with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias is the goal of an interdisciplinary symposium on “Finding Humanity in Advanced Dementia” April 27. The event, to be held on the Danforth Campus, is open to the public.

Awad named associate dean for medical student education

Michael M. Awad, MD, PhD, has been named associate dean for medical student education at the School of Medicine, effective June 1. Awad is an assistant professor of surgery, program director of the university’s general surgery residency and director of the university’s Institute for Surgical Education.

Early gets star on St. Louis Walk of Fame

Professor Gerald L. Early, PhD, an internationally renowned essayist and American culture critic, was recognized with a star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame during an April 11 induction ceremony in front of the Moonrise Hotel on Delmar Boulevard in The Loop.

Katims to receive 2013 Stalker Award

Andrew Katims has been selected to receive the 2013 Harrison D. Stalker Award, presented each year by the Department of Biology in Arts & Sciences. The award is given to the graduating senior in biology whose undergraduate career is marked by outstanding scientific scholarship as well as contributions to the university in the areas of artistic expression, community service or both.

Doctoral students can hone entrepreneurial skills with new citation

?Doctoral students who are interested in developing their entrepreneurial skills now have the option of earning the new Entrepreneurship Citation offered by the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.

MoDOT to remove bridge over I-64/Highway 40; expect ramp closures
